Yes, this was supposed to be the final piece in a very long progressive epic I started when I was only 17. The beginning of this epic can be heard in my "nerdy oldies" folder below. I had an idea about a final part I wanted to call: I'm Pale, and I for that I came up with some melodies and some chords here and there. This was, though the beginning of a period which lasted for 4 long years when I barely managed to write anything, and if I did write, it did not seem as if it wanted to be very close or dear to me. Making music by myself, and for myself had become my world, and the world started to take on darker tones.
Now, in a life that has gone through some deep changes, I am trying to feel the passion of writing flow into me again and just yesterday (April 21) I had a long correspondance with my friend Mary Beth a k a leplume from the site, where I told her about the long epic that I had been obsessed with for so long, with the result that I suddenly started to gain some new knowledge about what the ideas I had back then meant, and the next morning (today), she wrote me some things about herself I will never forget. Right after that I sat down at the piano and played what had been the stagnant pieces of I'm Pale. BAM: the song you can now listen to was there, with lyrics that more or less fell out of my mouth! So her words were certainly a driving power behind it, and one might say that it belongs to her in many ways. A nice outcome of a "sharing" process!
I did not really care too much about production this time, and I'm sure there are some wrong notes or dodgy bits here and there, but as a piece of songwriting I have to say it is one of my personal favourites.
Update in december: wow, innumerable things happening to me, and a nomination for best "other" song later, this is still and will always be one of my favourites 
Have been thinking of making the little "epic" a reality sometime hehe, maybe I should some day!
